Yeehaw!! No wait, Wheeeee!
So we’ve established that there’s no way I’m going to squee. I told my husband that and he said what’s a squee? I said exactly.
But what to do with all the excitement??? Because there’s mucho excitement!
Why am I such a fan of “mucho” lately? I think this may even be the second time I’ve used it on my blog. And I’ve only been blogging for a week. That seems like too mucho to me.
But regardless, there really is mucho excitement in my life. My life as an agent, that is. Please reread this if you mistakenly think I’m going to announce a pregnancy or something, you poor misguided lamb.
Ok, wait, how awesome is it that this is only my 5th blog post ever and already I’m linking back to old ones?? Part of that is I’m a little link-happy because I figured out how to link and I don’t know any other blog tricks yet. Like how to make a commenter disappear. Although I’m not sure why I’d want to do that since I love comments!!! But also, that link was totally relevant. That was one relevant link. Really relevant. Really. Relevant.
Anyway, the real problem is that none of the expressions really translate well to the written word. What is the one word of excitement that will best capture that crazy sound of OHMYGODTHAT’STHEMOSTAMAZINGNEWSEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some people tweeted some suggestions, but they weren’t any good. This doesn’t bode well for my awesome word, since most of you probably found this blog post through twitter, but let me throw it out there anyway. What should be my awesome catch phrase for excitement?? No wait, bigger than that. My signature phrase for excitement.

Fricktacalicious (frickin’ + spectacular + delicious, or make you own combination of 2 or 3 words to invent your very own unique catchphrase)
How about “WOWZA!” (sounds best when spoken in that 1940’s American newsreel voice)
I use “Holy wind chimes!” For everything: excitement, horror, surprise, everything. It’s of my own coinage, so it does what I tell it to do 🙂

That post was great. Very emotive! And I have no idea what you should use instead of squee…I tend to say things are awesome, and I’ve realized lately that awesome is quite hackneyed now, so I need a new phrase, too! What to do? Much thinking.
On the other hand, congrats on all the awesome (see, there it is again) goings-on for your authors and yourself! And the blog is going well. I’ve just hit post number 15 myself, and it’s slow going sometimes. Be kind to yourself. You’re a busy lady with lots of awesome (dangit, how do I get rid of it, it’s like a lint!) stuff going on. Your posts are funny and fun to read. So relax, and the comments will come–at least that’s what I tell myself!

When something is just so awesome one word will not do you have to you combine words- Fantabulous is one of my favorites. Give it try & you will feel both, fantastic & fabulous.
How about Yippee-Skippy? That’s what I say with my three year old when we are excited!
Ooh, here’s another one. “JABULANI!” is Zulu for “celebrate”. (It’s also the name of a hugely popular model of soccer ball).

There is nothing else that can come close.
My go-to phrase of excitement is one that my roommates don’t quite understand, but love regardless. It’s “flipping gullash” which doubles as both a phrase of unexpressable joy (“Flipping gullash! “) and the fourth unforgivable curse (“Flipping gullash! “).

I have no expertise in this matter. The only exclamations that come to my mind are ones of frustration. My father-in-law likes to yell, “Judas Priest!” or “What the Sam Hill!” and my husband says “SassaFrassa, frick, frack…etc, etc.” Somehow none of those quite transition to a happy situation. Yep, this comment was completely unhelpful.

Hmm, I’ve always been more of a curser than a cusser. Maybe that’s a New York thing. And long acronyms just start to confuse me. But good effort.
I like woot for when I’m slightly excited, Woot for when I’m excited, and WOOT! for when I’m overjoyed. Then you can add more !!!!! for your level of excitement beyond that.

You start out as if you are singing a high G with an opera like vibrato. Then, after holding for a good 2 count, smoothly transition into a super loud burp. It’s more of a sound series than a specific phrase, but it’s how I express my excitement after a particularly good meal. People will stare, not because they are offended, but because they want to know more about what has got you so excited.
I’m pretty sure a burp from excitement automatically transforms into a hiccup, don’t you think? Wait, are you suggesting the phrase be Holy Hiccups!! Because you know I get freaked out if I have the hiccups for more than 5 minutes. I don’t think this is going to work.
I quite like a good old fashioned ‘damn!’. it can be used so many ways, depending on intonation… Plus, it’s multi-purpose – for good things and for bad things.
