Holy Krakatoa Beautiful Cover!
I’m working on my next blog trick, inserting a picture. I thought I would start with this:
Look at me in all my purple, flowy-blond-hair-tossing glory! Don't you want to read this book just because of me??
So I had this whole post written last night. I just dashed it off and was ready to post it in 5 minutes. But really, it was 5 minutes of brilliance.
I should have suspected something was wrong when WordPress was making me write on top of my own words. Instead of going to the next line, it would just write over what I had written. So I couldn’t see what I’d written and I couldn’t rethink it. Couldn’t edit, couldn’t anything. Now some people might have suspected something was wrong. But not me. No, I integrated it into my post–I created something brilliant about how it was going to be the latest encryption tool and I expected to be snatched up by the CIA or the FBI as a consultant. But of course only as a consultant because I don’t want to give up being a literary agent, you know.
I didn’t stop there. I went on and said, “The eagle has landed.” But no, all my clients–and readers–would be so disappointed with that. Because that’s so cliche. So I left everyone with a final thought. I said The tiger has roared. And in that simple phrase–all encrypted because I couldn’t see it–I thought about how brilliant I am because, don’t you get it??? Tigers don’t roar!!! Lions do.
Somehow I was convinced that even though I was typing in encryption mode, that when I hit “publish” it would all become clear. But of course it didn’t. It all disappeared instead.
WAIT!!! I just realized. My messages went into the ether. Of course! That’s where spy messages go. Duh. I feel so much better.
Ok, well, you’re probably wondering what this all has to do with that gorgeous cover up there. Nothing, of course. My post had some stuff about the book too, but that got deleted also and then got lost in my enthusiasm for the super spy encryption stuff. But probably I should tell you about the book.
Anyway, isn’t that cover gorgeous??? Like holy wind chimes gorgeous??? I’m still working on my signature phrase. Did you see that?? I added a picture and linked to my blog all in one post!! I’m totally getting the hang of this blogging thing.
So. This gorgeous cover is of course for ENDLESSLY, the final book in the NYT bestselling trilogy that began with Paranormalcy and Supernaturally. Now, if you haven’t read the first two, I don’t know what you are waiting for, but do it NOW because Endlessly is coming out in July and it’s going to be HOLY KRAKATOA AWESOME!!!

I really like the Holy Krakatoa as a signature phrase. I’ve never heard it before, so it’s completely unique, although I recognize the word. You can even play with randomly capializing parts of the word to put emPHAsis on the syllable of your choice for variety. Nicely played, Michelle!
Plus, you’re doing great with the blog and adding features to each post. Pretty soon, you’ll be including surveys and pie charts, or maybe just pie for your readers to enjoy while reading your blog. Either way, it’s full of WIN and AWESOMENESS. Woot!!
Um, I think the signature phrase still needs work…

All of the covers for that series are great. I love the colors; they look very saturated, reminds me a bit of comic books and the video game my kids play, Sly Cooper. Anyway, beautiful!

I feel your pain about losing your post. WordPress did something similar to me last week, for the first time, and I lost everything in my post when I tried to save except for one picture, and some funky characters that were never part of the post. I had to start over, which was very frustrating. Fortunately, I copy and paste my posts into WordPress from word, so all I had to do was reinsert links and photos into the new post.

The cover is very eye-catching, definitely would make me want to pick it up in a bookstore.
As for the signature phrase, I’ve got to admit I’m somewhat confused. Is this special phrase “Holy Krakatoa!” or “Shazam!” or even both put together?
I haven’t totally decided., if you read the signature phrase post, you’ll see these were among the suggestions. I’m still trying some on for size and fit. 😉
I see, I see. This reminds me a lot of the Capitain Haddock in Tintin who’s known for such signature phrases as “Tonnerre de Brest!” Though I assume that you’d rather stay in the English language 🙂
In my opinion, it should then be something that rolls right off the tongue. Which is why I believe Krakatoa’s a little too much of a tongue trickster (loses a point). However, Shazam does feel rather overused (loses a point too–argh! it’s a tie!).
Good luck finding the perfect signature phrase that’ll represent you. I look forward to reading it and, ahem, pilfering it from you :p

Wow, it’s like the people that did this cover stole the image directly out of my brain from the first time I saw my wife. The sky behind her wasn’t purple, but other than that, it was identical. Speaking of stolen ideas, “Holy Krakatoa” is MY trademarked phrase as of 10 seconds ago when I filed an application for it with the trademark office. I’ll see you in court.
